Livehood Survey

Conducted survey among 1198 Women Self Help Group (WSHG) members in Southern India plotting livelihood security, food security and knowledge requirements. Wealth ranking by members of WSHGs revealed that 55 % of members belonged to “poor” compared to 45 % of their counterparts “better off” with in their groups.

The Knowledge kits developed include:

  • Cell phone Operated Mobile Audio Communication and Conferencing System (COMBACCS),
  • Multi purpose LCD,
  • Touch screen information kiosk,
  • Collapsible Banner,
  • Audio CD,
  • Flip books,
  • Digital flash cards,
  • Video CD

The ICT and non ICT tools were tested among WSHGs in South India. The results were presented in a Workshop at Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), New Delhi in November 2009.

Developed the curriculum on “Gender and Livestock Development” for PG students of Veterinary Extension and MA Women Studies. This module is already implemented in the revised curriculum for veterinary extension of the ICAR and in Karnataka State Women’s University, Bijapur.
